Lower and Upper Sixth pupils studying Biology will be visiting specialist research laboratories at Wolverhampton University during the Autumn term.
A lot of the A Level Biology curriculum is based on modern technology that is beyond the reach of any school or college laboratory and some equipment required for experiments can cost a five or six-figure sum, and indeed the experiments themselves can last for weeks. As a result, many Sixth Formers never have the opportunity to engage with these experiments and enhance their field of study. At Highclare Sixth Form students will have this opportunity during their visit to Wolverhampton University.
The trip will coincide with a University Open Day, so university lecturers and students will be available to answer questions about related degree courses. As part of this, various medical and scientific activities will be available for pupils.
This event has been organised for the last few years, and pupils have found it to be very successful, enjoyable and informative.
J6 conducted experiments on Reversible and Irreversible Changes.
