We Will Remember Them

Posted: 9th November 2018

Highclare pupils of all ages have valued the opportunity to reflect on the centenary of the end of WWI.   All activities have been insightful & thought-provoking and we are very proud of how children throughout the school  have taken part in various commemoration tributes during this time of Remembrance.

Mrs Dawson’s L5 English class created a Poppies display, pictured below, at Highclare Senior School. It is a collection of collages based on Jane Weir’s poem ‘Poppies’, a poem that tells the ‘story’ of a mother’s experience of pain and loss as her son leaves home to go to war.

We can also see our younger pupils from Swans wearing their poppies proudly during the EYFS remembrance assembly.  Poppies on display during the assembly were created by Reception W, Swans W and Cygnets W pupils in a variety of ways.

With Remembrance assemblies, art work created, poetry analysed and collages displayed across the school pupils from Pre-School to Sixth Form have #rememberedthem beautifully.
