Inspiring Young Musician’s At Highclare Prep

Posted: 1st March 2019

J3 and J4 recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Symphony Hall, Birmingham to watch young musicians from all over the country perform at the Music for Youth Primary Prom.

The concert was absolutely fantastic, every performance was of an extremely high standard that captured our imagination and mesmerised the children throughout.  A wide range of genres of music were performed during the day by musicians aged between seven and 21, including, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Quintet, Symphony Orchestra and a Boys Choir.

A particular highlight for the children occurred when Rachel Leach, the compare of the concert, encouraged the whole audience to participate in an African song and a rhythmic sequence that filled the hall.  From the smiles and comments received following the trip the concert has definitely inspired budding musician’s at Highclare Preparatory School.

GCSE Results

This year Highclare students have once again produced outstanding GCSE results.  Nearly one third of all grades were at the highest level of 7 and above and our overall pass rate was 92%, all of which are significantly above the national figures of 22% and 68% respectively.

Half of all grades were 6 and above and 98% of our full-time students achieved 5 of more GCSE passes. Having scored particularly excellent grades in Science and Maths, we are welcoming 4 students onto our Pre-Med scholarship program, designed to support students with medicine-related university applications.

Nearly 10% of our cohort have achieved 8 or more GCSEs at the top grades of 7 or above (or 35% achieved 7 or more GCSEs at the top grades of 6 or above).
