Highclare Preparatory School French Cafe

Posted: 7th March 2019

Parents and children at Highclare Preparatory School: St Pauls and Highclare Preparatory School: Woodfield were invited to attend the Highclare French Café last week to celebrate the launch of the teaching of French for pupils in J3-J6 for the remainder of the year.

Families paid their entry in Euros and a French cheese raffle was held in aid of Young Minds, our designated school charity this year.  Once confirming their reservation guests feasted on delicious patisserie, children completed a French quiz and enjoyed practising a new song.

The cafes were generously supported by both Waitrose and Asda and we would like to thank them for their generous contributions.

Merci beaucoup to all families and staff for supporting the event, Highclare Preparatory School raised  a wonderful £238 and children are very excited to commence their French lessons.

GCSE Results

This year Highclare students have once again produced outstanding GCSE results.  Nearly one third of all grades were at the highest level of 7 and above and our overall pass rate was 92%, all of which are significantly above the national figures of 22% and 68% respectively.

Half of all grades were 6 and above and 98% of our full-time students achieved 5 of more GCSE passes. Having scored particularly excellent grades in Science and Maths, we are welcoming 4 students onto our Pre-Med scholarship program, designed to support students with medicine-related university applications.

Nearly 10% of our cohort have achieved 8 or more GCSEs at the top grades of 7 or above (or 35% achieved 7 or more GCSEs at the top grades of 6 or above).
