Mrs Bennett’s Bulletin Tuesday 6 December 2022

Posted: 6th December 2022

Good morning, Prep School family,

I hope you are all well and have had a fun and festive weekend. Mine has been very quiet as I have had the lurgy!

I thought I would keep this Bulletin very simple this week.

I know we are all so busy with the build up to Christmas – with the shopping, wrapping, nativities, carol singing, socialising with friends, expectations on ourselves that this time of year has to be perfect. I know that my Bulletin won’t change these things but I just wanted to remind you that at this time of year it is ok not to be ok. Perfect doesn’t exist so just enjoy whatever happens. If your plans do not go as you thought and it is ok to take some time for yourself and show yourself some kindness.

Christmas quote of the week: “It came without ribbons; it came without tags. It came without packages, boxes, or bags. . . Maybe.  Christmas (he thought) doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.” — The Grinch

Well-being tasks for this week: These tasks for December are based on doing good.

Tuesday 6 December – Leave a positive message for someone to find

Wednesday 7 December – Donate to a charity – donating isn’t always giving money

Thursday 8 December – Give kind comments to as many people as you can today

Friday 9 December – Do something helpful today

Saturday 10 December – Listen, really listen

Sunday 11 December – Don’t judge people, everyone’s situation is different. Try to understand their point of view

Monday 12 December – Be generous – with your time, kindness and love

Jokes of the week:

What’s the difference between the Christmas alphabet and the ordinary alphabet? The Christmas alphabet has Noel.

What do snowmen eat for breakfast? Ice Crispies.

Who is never hungry at Christmas? The turkey—he’s always stuffed.

How can Santa deliver presents during a thunderstorm? His sleigh is flown by raindeer.

What’s Santa Claus’s favourite type of potato chip? Crisp Pringles!

Sleeps til Santa: 18 sleeps til Santa!

5 things that I am grateful for or looking forward to this week:

Can you try this simple exercise in gratitude and positivity?

  1. I am looking forward to baking mince pies.
  2. I am looking forward to Stories Around the Christmas Tree.
  3. I am looking forward to lots of carol singing this week.
  4. I am grateful for hot coffee in a morning.
  5. I am grateful for our fleet of minibus drivers this week (and always!).

Have a wonderful week and thank you for your kind donations to the food bank via the reverse advent calendar, please do keep sending in your offerings. This year, more than ever, they really will make a difference to our local community. We are extremely grateful for your continued generosity.

Love

Mrs Bennett
